Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines, 2013.

I am as uncomfortable with it as I am talking about it. It’s not a real thing, it’s some kind of cosmic joke that’s going to be revealed soon. I never was considered that way and I think a lot of it has to do with the stigma that attaches to you from film. I think anybody who was in ‘The Notebook’ would be receiving similar comments. It’s just the nature of it. I know from just being a guy and looking at a billboard you’re like: ‘That guy’s not a sex symbol. They’re trying to sell that on us? No way! That’s never gonna stick.’ And then suddenly he’s like a huge deal and you can’t believe it. I used to hate those guys and now I am one.

She just seems different. I don’t know, I just got a feeling about her. You know when a song comes on and you just gotta dance?

First look at The Place Beyond the Pines [x]

“It was crazy flattering to get the offer. His first big film, and he could have gotten anyone! It was very heartwarming and the biggest compliment ever. He sent the script over in this cool box with an interesting little key, and cool artwork in it. It was like the full package! And then I read the script and was in love with it, so I called him back and said, ‘Yeah, please.’ It’s about a single mother supporting two children and trying to provide a home for them and a place of comfort in a continuously harder place to be. And I find myself working in this very surreal Fetish club that gets me into a sort of predicament, and in the meantime, these boys are off on their own adventures and they discover this underground city. I don’t know what the exact budget is, but I think we’ve got a nice amount. I’m sure it will be incredibly clever, and Ryan already has storyboards and pictures of neighborhoods and homes, and he’s already collecting music for it … when you read it, it gives you the feeling, maybe, of a memory. Something from your childhood that you can’t really pinpoint.” — Christina Hendricks on ‘How to Catch a Monster’, Ryan Gosling’s first movie [x] (via christophernolans)
